Alexander "Sasha" Shulgin

Visionary biochemist Alexander Shulgin, who is most widely known for popularizing the use of MDMA within the field of psychiatry in the late 70s and early 80s, is widely considered one of the greatest chemists of the 20th century. Shulgin dedicated his life to the advancement of psychedelic research. And boasting a catalogue of  over 200 different psychoactive compounds within two classes of chemicals, which he personally discovered, synthesized, and explored, Shulgin will forever be cemented in the roots of this underground research movement. Now nearing the end of his life Alexander and his wife Ann will be featured in a documentary about their lives and pursuits entitled: Dirty Pictures. With very little information regarding the personal life of this legendary psycho-naught, we can only hope that Dirty Pictures will provide us with insight into a mind like no other.

Featuring VST/AU hosting, Maschine is quickly turing itself into a versatile stand-alone platform for producers, live artists, and creative musicians. The new VST/AU hosting feature allows you to use your favorite plug-ins within the Maschine environment. All supported by an effective parameter auto-mapping so you can begin working immediately without any prior midi-mapping. If you already have a Maschine I would recommend downloading the free update ASAP, followed quickly by locking yourself in your house/bedroom/office for an extended period of time. Be sure to watch NI’s Maschine 1.6 tutorial videos to save yourself a bit of headache and get to making that 808 crunk you always wanted as quickly as possible.

If you aren’t already aware PantyRaid is sexy dessert-dub for those who want to move to the music with a little bit of swagger. You can expect to hear the duo concoct a melodic, booty shaking mix of pristine instrumentation with influences that hit almost every electronic genre from the last two decades, and enough <100Hz to set off a car alarm on South Peters. Be prepared for a night of sexy crunk-step that’s sure to keep you moving. And don’t forget, bring a fresh pair.

Get ready. Mimosa’s next album entitled “Silver Lining” drops October 4th, shortly after the beginning of his fall tour. The LA based producer has come a long way since his first album “Hostilis”. Rallying nationwide support Mimosa quickly attained veteran status and solidified himself in the foundation of the rapidly growing underground electronic scene. I personally cannot wait to give his new drop a listen.

The first time I saw Sleepy Sun, in a small warehouse space dusted over with grungy Oakland vibes, I exalted as the place transformed into a Pan [theistic] orgy of stomping and yelling. Slipping from tears to shouts of joy, I almost lost my mind… and, I think I was ready for it, cushioned as I was by the melodrama that is Sleepy Sun.

Excision can easily be classified as one of today’s finest dubstep producers. Hailing from Canada, Excision has created a unique sound that resonates around the globe.
